Community Counseling and Addiction Services
The Community Mental Health and Addiction Services (CMH&A) is funded by the Northwest Local Health Network and the Government of Ontario; under the sponsorship of the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital. Services are provided without cost to all clients.
Services Available at CCAS
Adult Mental Health Counseling (for people 18+)
- crisis intervention and counseling for adults experiencing mental health problems including stress, depression, anxiety, abuse (past or present), eating disorders, anger management, etc.
Case Management Services (for people 18+)
- the goal of this program is to increase independence and quality of life for those living with a serious mental illness. Examples of Case Management Services available at CCAS include skill development, medication monitoring, crisis intervention, counseling support, and assistance with the activities of daily living.
Substance Abuse and Problem Gambling Services (for people 12+)
- CCAS provides assessment, community-based treatment, referral to residential treatment programs, and aftercare support for those with problems related to alcohol or drug use or gambling. Service is also available for family members.
Community Education
- a variety of educational workshops are available to the residents of Red Lake and Ear Falls including Assertiveness Training, Stress Management Training, gambling prevention and awareness, substance abuse education, and sessions specific to particular mental illnesses. Workshops are conducted throughout the year and by special request.
